EPC Headache - 7 Day EPC vs. 3 Month EPC
If you are an affiliate addict or you're starting with affiliate finding services like Cj Affiliate by Conversant and Flexoffers, then you might have seen terms like "7 Day EPC" or "3 Month EPC". Am I right? A few months ago, when I started out with Flexoffers, I started to see these terms and they were seemingly very important. They said that I could look for affiliates from High to low / low to high - 7-day /3-month EPCs. So I did a little searching and I tried it out, and it's most definitely true. Knowing what they are is really Important!

What is EPC Anyway?
EPC is a term that, when translated, can be very misleading. It actually means "Earnings Per Click". Why is it misleading? That is because EPC is calculated for every 100 clicks, so it should actually be EPHC which would stand for "Earnings per hundred clicks". This term is always used in affiliate marketing. This is a metric that can show you how much you can earn from it on average from every 100 clicks. The formula for determining the EPC is simple, it is -
{Affiliate Earnings (Profit) ÷ Clicks} x 100
CJ Affiliate Network defines EPC as
Your success is relative to how many visitors you can drive through your site or paid search link that will generate sales for an advertiser you are promoting. EPC does not mean that if someone clicks on that link 100 times you earn the dollar amount in the EPC. Your EPC is calculated in an “apples to apples” comparison with all publishers by taking each p.
What is 7 Day EPC?
7 Day EPC is the total amount of commission that you can earn from the selected affiliate for every 100 buyers in the duration of 7 days.
What is 3 Month EPC?
3 Month EPC is just like 7 Day EPC. It is how much commission you can earn from the selected affiliate on a 3 Month basis.
DID YOU KNOW - There's also a thing called 30 Day EPC which is visible on affiliate networks like FlexOffers
How Should I Pick An Affiliate Based on EPC?
To decide which one is better, you have to notice the EPC ranges. If the 7 day EPC for an affiliate, say AT&T is around $350, but if that doesn't match your niche, then your earning will be nowhere near that.
Let's take an example. If you have a blog about race cars and automobiles, then you go to Cj and find AT&T for your affiliate with a 7 Day EPC of $350 and you place their ads on your site, then how many clicks and buyouts will you get? Maximum 1-5.
And now let's say that you find another affiliate named Advances Auto Parts, and they give a Day EPC worth around $40. But you will be getting a lot more sales, which would actually mean more sales and more money.
I hope that all this information was simple enough for all of you to understand. Come back again to see what else is new!
